The "NBA on TNT" team and the Spurs coach Gregg Popovich both paid to fantastic and moving tributes to reporter Craig Sager, the edge, the treatment of leukemia is subjected to. In honor of the Sager of the famous and colorful wardrobe, Neal wore some colourful suits of their own hosts Ernie Johnson, Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley and Shaquille O'Neal.
Just before all four as a grid of TNT open NBA Playoff coverage introduced on Sunday, the announcer called their suits "special Craig Sager throwback uniforms." Against a huge backdrop consisting of supersized Sager outfits they huddled and welcomed their colleagues.
"Well, our friend," Barkley said.
They were not the only in the Sager-esque suit. Sager's son, Craig Sager, Jr., interviewed Popovich at the end of the third quarter of his team playoff opener against the Mavericks. Sager wore Jr. what he has said, the only suit of his father was still not worn (the tag was still) contain an orange tie and belt, the national color for leukemia awareness.
Popovich, whose many memorable in-game interviews were with Sager, paid homage to the reporters at the talking to Sayers Jr.
"We miss you," Popovich said, as he faced the camera. "You were an important part of doing all of this for a long time, a great job. We want your Fanny back in place and I promise that I'll be nice. Come back. Good luck."
In a statement from Turner Sports on Friday released, Sager, who joked about the interview Popovich: "Too bad, I had some probing questions for pop."
UPDATE: The charges just not made. TNT Steve Kerr and Marv Albert wore some extravagant suits in honor of Sager during game 1 between the Washington Wizards and the Chicago Bulls.
