Maundy Thursday 2014: the story behind the Holy Thursday before Easter must visit

Maundy Thursday is the Thursday before Easter, of Christians observed, which April 17 charged this year. "Maundy Thursday", marked as it is also known, represented the last supper of Jesus Christ with his disciples before his betrayal, process and crucifixion as in the Christian Gospels.

While the Palm Sunday and Easter observances of Holy week in general are more joy, Maundy Thursday observances take a more solemn tone and focus on two primary rituals, which are represented in the biblical accounts of the last supper.

The name "Holy Thursday" derives from the Latin word Mandatum meaning "Bid." The most important commandment of the message of Jesus is in the story of the last supper which took place, as to wash Jesus himself humble feet of his apostles before the traditional Passover meal, or seder. Jesus commands them then "love one another as I have loved you" (John 13:34). In observance of this commandment, the Act of foot washing is often performed as part of the Maundy Thursday worship services.

The other important Christian ritual come from the last supper story is the Eucharist or Holy Communion. In all three synoptic Gospels, described and explained on the communion in Paul's Epistle to the Corinthians, Christians replicate Jesus distribution of bread and wine to his Apostles enter together while their last meal. While various denominations may have different specific interpretations of the ritual, many incorporate a special community at the Holy Thursday liturgy.
